As vulnerable population groups, generally, are understood the social groups whose participation in social and economic life is hindered, either due to social and economic problems or physical or mental disorders, or due to unforeseen events that affect the smooth functioning of the local or, more broadly, the regional economy.

Due to the bibliographic and research deficit in Greece and the broader European area, this volume is considered to be a significant contribution to the study of vulnerable and disadvantaged social groups, as it addresses their characteristics, interventions, and inclusion in the broader social fabric.
