Although the analysis of language has been a concern of human civilizations throughout history, language in its everyday use did not become a field of research until the 20th century. The communicative dimension of language, especially in terms of everyday interaction, is a more recent area of development in linguistics. Moreover, let us not forget that the most common answer to the question "What is language?" is that it is a means of communication among people. In this context, this volume is composed in order to capture, as much as possible, the multidimensional nature of both speech and analytical choices for its approach, with particular emphasis on presenting research in the field of discourse analysis for Greek. Furthermore, the aim of this volume is to attract interest in discourse analysis among students and readers who are not familiar with the relevant topics, covering a fairly wide - but by no means exhaustive - range of research interests that engage contemporary discourse analysis.
