Periklis Politis

Periklis Politis is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Journalism and Mass Media at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, a collaborator with the Center for the Greek Language, and a supervisor for the revision of the Dictionary of Standard Modern Greek (Institute of Modern Greek Studies - AUTH). His research interests include sociolinguistics (linguistic diversity in journalistic discourse), discourse analysis (theory and typology of textual genres, linguistic profile of journalistic genres, reported speech in the media), and corpus linguistics. Among his recent publications are articles on the epistemology of mediated communication discourse, the prosody of journalistic language in television news broadcasts, conceptual metaphors and lexical collocations in television news, parody in radio advertisements, as well as the editing of a volume titled "The Discourse of Mass Communication."
