Description

Description

In antiquity, the broader region where Atalanti is located today was known as Opuntia Locris, or Opus for short. On Mount Galanos, our Cabernet Franc is harvested with low yields. No irrigation system is used in this vineyard to increase the concentration in the grape, and therefore its quality. This variety matures for 12 months in French oak barrels, and the produced wine is known as Opus XII. Enjoy it for another 25-30 years from its vintage.

Winemaking

Red winemaking under controlled conditions. Aging for at least 12 months in new French oak barrels. It remains for 36 months in the underground air-conditioned cellars at Hatzimichalis Estate for reductive aging.

Decent wine but nothing special for my taste.. The price is quite steep for what it offers! I clearly prefer its "sibling", the cabernet sauvignon from the same estate, a wine that I consider exceptional (it is much more intense with a different character).
