Description

Description

The present edited volume constitutes an introduction to the teaching of Modern Greek linguistic varieties and dialects. Given the special mention made of their use in both the D.E.P.P.S. (2003) and the A.P.S. (2003), as well as in the New Curriculum Programs (2011), linguistic varieties and dialects are called upon to assume a prominent role in Greek education.

However, in order to serve as a suitable field for teaching applications, it is necessary for them to first become the subject of theoretical analysis. For this reason, our volume consists of articles that present theoretical approaches to Modern Greek dialects, some emphasizing specific dialects and others with a typological orientation.

It follows systematic teaching proposals for the linguistic varieties and dialects, highlighting the major role of New Technologies in their teaching. The volume is aimed at scholars and researchers of Modern Greek linguistic varieties and dialects, educators in primary and secondary education, dialect-speaking individuals, and anyone interested in linguistic varieties and dialects.
