Description

Le Roi des Montagnes is the "King of the Mountains," as its literal translation suggests. The Syrah Le Roi des Montagnes is considered by many to be the King of Syrah in Greece. It is, after all, an amazing Syrah from the Peloponnese, which proves to be an ideal region for cultivating this variety.

Tasting

Deep purple color with violet highlights. On the nose, complex and intense. Beyond its fruity character with aromas of sour cherry, blackcurrant, cherry, and blueberry, distinct aromas reminiscent of violet, eucalyptus, green pepper, and vanilla are noticeable. As it remains in the glass and bottle, it develops aromas of tobacco and leather. On the palate, dry with a full body, velvety tannins, and balanced acidity, with flavors of ripe red and black fruits, excellent fruit concentration, and high alcohol content.

Accompanied

Accompanies red meats, grilled meats, meats with rich sauces and strong herbs, mushrooms, cheeses, and cured meats. Ideally served at 18-19°C.

  • My review concerns the 2020 Magnum bottle.
Simply the best Greek Syrah I have ever tasted.
Unprecedented concentration, rich flavor, ripe red fruits.
Despite the high alcohol content, the wine is elegant with balanced acidity and velvety tannins.
The 55 euros for this bottle are few!
