This region is known for its vine cultivation and the existence of an ancient wine press dating back to Hellenistic times. Kostas Semertzidis, grandfather of winemaker Iordanis Michaelidis, began wine production in Kyrgia, Drama in 1924. Today, the third generation, led by Iordanis Michaelidis, continues the tradition with the aim of creating a state-of-the-art winery and producing high-quality wines, combining modern winemaking techniques with local traditions.
