Description

PDO Mavrodaphne of Patras.

Mavrodaphne 100%.

Vineyard in the PDO Mavrodaphne of Patras zone (north and northwest of Patras).

Harvest from late August to early September. Winemaking according to the traditional method of fortified sweet wine, interrupting alcoholic fermentation by adding wine alcohol.

The sweetness of Mavrodaphne wine is exclusively due to the grapes' sugars, while its bouquet combines the aromas of the grapes with those of partial fermentation and aging.

Aging since 1979 in oak barrels.

It is notable that even today in the cellar of Achaia Clauss, the first Mavrodaphne vinified by Clauss, vintage 1873, rests! It is the oldest Greek wine and one of the oldest in Europe.

  • This dessert wine is simply on another level.
It goes without saying that it is very expensive, but for 1-2 times a year (on special occasions) it is worth the effort to taste it!
Incredible sensation when paired with a rich chocolate and fatty dessert!

First of all, I will start with the price, which is a bit expensive, it could be lower!! Now let's talk about the wine, this one is for someone who wants to taste the PERFECT wine, without exaggeration!! Despite the 16% alcohol, you don't even notice it, the aging has reached perfection!! Tremendous aromas in the nose, velvet in the mouth, and a lingering aftertaste that you simply don't want to end!! One sip can take you to the highest level of taste! It's really worth trying, you won't regret it!!!
