The Michailidis Estate is located in Agios Athanasios, Drama, a fertile area that is adjacent to the ancient city of Philippi. Archaeological findings attest to the cultivation of vines and the existence of an ancient wine press during Hellenistic times.
The tradition begins about 100 years ago, in 1924, when Kostas Semertzidis, the grandfather of winemaker Iordanis Michailidis, arrived as a refugee from the lands of Asia Minor and started wine production in Kyrgia, Drama.
The third generation, led by Iordanis Michailidis, took the reins in 2004 with the goal of creating a state-of-the-art winery and producing quality wines that incorporate modern winemaking techniques with local traditions.
