Description

Description

Petros lived in the mid-18th century. He was born in Goranus, Laconia, learned music in Smyrna, and due to his great talent, he made his way to Constantinople, where he excelled as a Lampadarios (left chanter) in the Patriarchal Church, as a Teacher of Greeks, Armenians, and Turks, as a composer of both ecclesiastical and secular music, as well as a virtuoso of the most classic instruments of Ottoman music, the ney and the tambur.

He became the most famous musician of his time and enjoyed the respect of the Roman community, as well as the MEVLEVI Dervishes and even the Sultan. Through this more emotional approach to the story of Petros presented in this book, Greek children will learn about the existence of his personality, which is unknown to the general public, since the Greek State did not take care to include it in the Programs of Greek Education.
