Double cleansing | The habit that Asian women swear by for perfect skin
Known for their flawless skin and always youthful appearance, it seems that Asian women know all the secrets of proper and effective skincare.
One of these is double cleansing, the daily habit sworn by for healthier and more radiant skin.
The ritual of double cleansing began in the 14th century by geishas, who, as you surely know, wore very heavy makeup. Today, the so-called double cleansing is part of the daily evening routine of many women in the western world. To adopt this highly beneficial habit, you will only need two products. But let's take a detailed look at what the two steps of double cleansing are:
Step 1
In the first step, you use a cleansing oil or a cleansing balm. Take a small amount of the product and warm it by rubbing your palms together, so it becomes more liquid. Apply it all over your face with gentle, circular motions, focusing on your eyes and lips. You will see that gradually your makeup will start to "melt". Under no circumstances should you stop cleansing your face there, but proceed to the next step.
Editor’s Tip: If you have very oily skin, you can use micellar water instead of oil or balm.
Step 2
In the second step of double cleansing, you use a cleanser in gel or foam form so that you can remove makeup residue, as well as the balm or oil you used previously, along with the oiliness that comes with it.
When should you do double cleansing?
In reality, it is not necessary to do double cleansing every day. If you haven't worn makeup on a particular day, cleansing with gel or foam might be sufficient to remove impurities and sunscreen. In any case, double cleansing in the morning is unnecessary and, in fact, it can do more harm than good by stripping the skin of its essential natural oils.
