The present study gathers and analyzes the passages from Aeschylus' "Agamemnon" in which it appears that the poet poetically embeds self-commentaries that prove or indicate his intrapersonal theory.
Specifically, the text-centered reading attempted aims to answer crucial poetological questions concerning production issues (the nature and sources of poetic invention, the ontological reflection of poetry, and mimesis) and reception (the intradrama guidance of the perceptual sensitivity of the theatrical audience and catharsis) of the text.
The poetological principles traced in "Agamemnon" acquire a programmatic character and are linked to a structured understanding of poetic art because their functional continuity is validated at the level of the macrostructure of the work.
