The board game Merchants & Marauders: Broadsides is a standalone naval combat game for two players, set in the Merchants & Marauders universe. Players command pirate ships and battle for control of a lucrative sea route, aiming to sink the opposing ship or eliminate its captain and first mate. The game system is card-based, with different actions triggered by the combinations players form.
Actions include aiming cannons, drawing additional cards, loading different types of ammunition, firing all cannons at once, changing course, and making repairs. Ammunition includes chain shot for the rigging, grapeshot for the crew, and solid shot for the hull. Repairs allow players to assign sailors to the cannons, fix the hull, and replace damaged sails.
