All the case studies presented in this book refer to therapies that were conducted under supervision during the training of psychologists and psychiatrists at the I.E.T.H.S. and took place within the framework of the Adult Therapy Department. The Department is a community psychotherapy structure where trainees from I.E.T.H.S provide cognitive-behavioral services at a symbolic cost.
The choice to focus on personality disorders arose partly from the increased representation of this diagnostic category in the clinical needs of individuals who sought treatment at the Adult Therapy Department of I.E.T.H.S. The second reason relates to the relatively recent interest of cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy in personality disorders and the research needs arising from this.
Controlled clinical studies on the effectiveness of the cognitive-behavioral model are few, and the majority of research information comes from case studies. This volume aims to provide such research material within the context of the Greek reality.
