Its advanced mechanical design ensures fast autofocus response and high resolution across the entire frame. Constant f/1.8 Aperture & 50–100mm Range

The lens covers a 50–100mm focal length range on the APS-C format, equivalent to three classic prime lenses (85mm, 105mm and 135mm in 35mm equivalent). Its unusually bright maximum aperture of f/1.8 remains constant throughout the zoom range, far surpassing traditional f/2.8 telephoto zoom lenses. It performs exceptionally well in low-light environments and gives you complete control over depth of field, making your subject stand out against an exceptionally smooth bokeh.

Art Series Optical Design & 9-Blade Diaphragm

Designed to meet the demanding standards of the Art series, it features a sophisticated optical construction of 21 elements in 15 groups, delivering resolution and sharpness comparable to top prime lenses. The circular aperture with 9 rounded blades maintains a uniform shape even at narrow apertures (up to f/16), producing natural background defocus. The minimum focusing distance of 95 cm and 0.15x magnification make framing close-up portraits easier.

HSM Focus Motor & Robust Construction

Autofocus is driven by a HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor), delivering fast, accurate and quiet performance for still photography and video. Weighing 1490 g and measuring 93.5 x 170.7 mm, its sturdy body offers excellent stability when shooting.
