Machir Bay is the flagship of the Kilchoman distillery series. It is named after the famous Machir Bay beach on Islay, located near the distillery. Machir Bay is a single malt that ages with a complex combination of Bourbon and Oloroso Sherry casks. This results in a beautiful balance of vanilla, smoky butterscotch, and fruit.

A moderately peated single malt poem from an independent (very few are not owned by multinationals anymore) distillery-family business from Islay. NAS and without added coloring (hence its "light" color). Fans of peated single malts will appreciate it, while those who don't like this style are very likely to be surprised if they try it.
Its price is somewhat steep, but fully justified: apart from being independent, this particular distillery is one of the very few (and certainly the only one in Islay) that undertakes the entire production process within its facilities. Barley cultivation, distillation, maturation, bottling, everything is done by themselves.

It is quite smoky whiskey, although it does not reach the smokiness of Ardbeg, Lagavulin, etc., but the smoke is definitely very noticeable, intense, and full on the nose, easy to drink, it has a nice sweetness in the finish and a lingering aftertaste. Complete and quite complex, Islay whiskey!
I forgot to mention, it is NAS (non-age statement or declaration), it is likely aged around 7, 8 years, it is proof that the companies' statements about age (years of maturation) do not always matter. Try it, it is very good whiskey and I think it can be enjoyed even in the summer as it is unique.

Amazing Whiskey. I highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of single malt and especially smoky whiskies.

For fans of smoky flavors. Comparable to Laphroaig but, for my taste, even better
