We compile pedagogical texts from Socrates to M. Montessori in this volume. The endeavor is by no means easy, as the completeness of such an effort requires coordinated collective action from scholars who have systematically approached educational movements, trends, or the work of individual educators.
The first difficulty of such an anthology is related to the vast scope (temporal and geographical) of the project, the second pertains to the number of educators whose work is considered significant and valuable, and the third refers to the term 'Pedagogical Texts' itself, the content of which can raise many serious challenges, especially for the earlier periods.
Deliberately, therefore, certain concessions are made to the strictly scientific ethics with the immediate goal of covering, even temporarily, gaps in the Greek literature until a collective effort in this direction can be promoted, hopefully soon.
