VFM. There is no other 25-year-old at this price. A wonderful and multi-layered 43-degree whisky that keeps you company in warm, special moments. Indeed, it stands apart from other 25-year-olds of much higher price. I like it more than the 15-year-old as it is not so sweet. (Don't get me wrong, the 15-year-old is by far and away the best and most enjoyable whisky in its category—along with the Glenkinchie 10-year-old, which is no longer available.) I prefer it with just a little ice-cold water so it releases all its aromas, mainly fruits but also notes of chocolate. It has a full body and is not oily, which suits my palate. In any case, if you ever buy a 25-year-old in your life, it's better to save up and later get a Bunnahabhain or maybe even an Old Pulteney.

  • Compared to the 15-year-old which is a rocket in everything, this one is more rounded and more low profile. Smooth and simpler as a whisky but very soft and relaxed whisky. Due to the many years in the barrels, it has lost some of the lively notes we see in the 15, but it is a more traditional and simple whiskey. Not so complex. A lot of maltiness, oak flavors, it remains spicy like the whole series but loses many interesting things compared to the 15. It is a whisky to enjoy relaxed without much fuss. Its price for a 25-year-old is excellent and among the cheapest you can find for its age, but if you like the 15-year-old, you have no reason to get this one.
