Description & Specifications

The relationship between Seferis and Tsirkas began with a disagreement and ended as a warm friendship. Tsirkas was the first to point out the resistance nature of Seferis's actions during the years in the Middle East (1941-1944). He admired his poetry and consistently recognized Seferis as the most important poet of his generation, despite the latent or acknowledged contradictions of the left, which had directly condemned the Club as a deviation from ideological orthodoxy.

After their settlement in Athens, mutual friends brought them closer together. Their relationship was forged during the years of the dictatorship. Stratis became one of Seferis's most regular interlocutors and was by his side in the final stage of his life. As an established writer and close friend of the poet, he stood honorably next to the coffin during the funeral and the funeral procession to the First Cemetery.

The narrative in the book traces their relationship from the war years to the poet's death, highlighting their friendship and their collaboration in anti-dictatorship actions.
