The ontology of social being and within this spirit, the social ontology in Hegel, constitute the ultimate philosophical endeavor of Lukács to confront catastrophic ideologies and monstrous imaginary ontogeneses of contemporary philosophical nihilism.
In this confrontation, his reflective gaze is directed not only towards the external world of these ideologies and ontogeneses, towards political opportunism, which appears even cloaked in a Marxist guise, but also towards the internal world of consciousness, self-consciousness, and spirit.
Thus, he seeks to outline a non-metaphysical direction that combines materialism and philosophical idealism within the historical, social, and political reality of the present.
In Hegel, he seeks the corresponding dialectical ontology and for this purpose, he takes as a basis the fundamental contradiction that governs both the ontological priority of Reason and the socio-political reality of the present.
It is precisely this priority that makes possible a dialectically rational interpretation of reality and strengthens the active element of the ontological foundation of social being in Hegel.
