Description

Description

The book: In this study, we examine chronologically and synchronically the main developments, changes, and replacements of the Greek language from the classical period of the 5th and 4th centuries B.C. to the present day. At the same time, we describe, analyze, and interpret the linguistic differences observed in the dialects or idioms of this time period, at this moment in time. It becomes clear that the Greek language, as a living organism, continuously and subtly evolves, changes, modifies, and replaces itself at all levels, namely in phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and vocabulary. We can briefly say that with these developments, the Greek language becomes clearer, simpler, easier, and more analytical.

This book is aimed at teachers and scholars of the Greek language, as well as anyone interested in the language, which is perhaps the greatest invention of mankind.

The author: George Ch. Sakellariadis was born in Aroania Kalavryton. He studied at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Athens. He received a scholarship from IKY for the USA, where he studied scientifically for four consecutive years contemporary linguistics by Noam Chomsky and secondarily classical philology. From the University of Indiana in the USA, where he taught the course of Modern Greek Language and Philology, he obtained with the grade "Excellent" the degrees of Master of Arts and PhD in Linguistics. He taught at the Secondary Education teaching college, at the School of Modern Greek Language, and at the Educational Centers of Athens. He actively participated in many symposia and seminars of linguistic and educational interest in Europe and America. He speaks English, German, and French and has published over 150 studies, articles, and books of linguistic and philological content.
