The book presents the findings from the excavations conducted by the Archaeological Service of the Ministry of Culture on Vouliagmeni Avenue while the underground Line 2 of the METRO was being constructed to serve the southern areas of Athens with seven stations.
Line 2 of the METRO and Vouliagmeni Avenue follow the course of the ancient urban road that connected the city of Athens with the municipalities to the west of Hymettus, reaching as far as the Sanctuary of Sounion and the mines of Lavreotiki.
With texts that are easily understandable and engaging, along with photographs from the excavations and the findings, the history of one of the main transportation axes of Attica is highlighted, in use from antiquity to the present day, depicting the lives and activities of its inhabitants over time.
The publication complements the work The City Beneath the City, which presents the excavations and findings in the main network of the METRO.
