Description & Specifications

In recent years, as Greece and its people have found themselves caught in a deep economic crisis with political and social dimensions, it has become increasingly necessary to draw comparisons with other critical phases of our modern history, particularly with the dramatic period of foreign occupation from 1941 to 1944, during which the Greek people experienced an extreme economic crisis and subsequent misery.

And since almost daily correlations are made, some successful and others unfounded, it was deemed useful to expedite the publication of this work. Throughout the last forty years and more, the author has systematically engaged in historical research on the occupation period, having the opportunity to meet individuals who played a significant role during that time and who helped him in gathering and studying valuable data and archives or in seeking authentic primary sources.

At the same time, he studied various public or private archives to which he had access, while also utilizing oral testimonies. It should be emphasized that his primary goal was to achieve as objective a perspective as possible on historical events, so that more reliable conclusions could be drawn.

In the second volume, there is a broader reference to the phenomenon of collaborationism and the individuals who were considered collaborators, that is, as partners of the occupier during the Occupation. The cases are varied, which requires precise knowledge for study.

At the end of the entire work, there will be a detailed bibliography and an index of individuals. Some of the content that makes up this work has previously been published in different forms in periodical editions. The author considers it his duty to thank all those who assisted him in the completion of this book, without whose contribution its successful outcome would have been doubtful. Special thanks are owed to his close friends Popi and Andreas Kyrkos, as well as to a wide circle of collaborators and friends.
