The Lunt Solar Systems SOLAR130 refractor telescope is designed for observing the Sun in H-alpha light, with a bandwidth of less than 0.7 Å. Its modular design allows the H-alpha Etalon system to be removed for observing and photographing the night sky. Its apochromatic triplet-lens design with an ED element reduces chromatic aberration.
The Etalon filter is tuned using an air-pressure system, which changes the refractive index inside the pressure chamber to precisely tune the H-alpha spectral line. This adjustment provides a uniform image with no central obstruction. The telescope can also be used to observe the Moon and planets, as well as for solar photography with small-sensor or APS-C cameras.
