This volume presents the “unknown” work Dissertation on the Origin of the Vlachs (De Valachorum Origine Dissertatio) by P. Fridericus Phleps (1829), which convincingly demonstrates the “ethnogenesis” of the Aromanian Vlachs south of the Danube, within the Greek lands, and demolishes the stereotypical and prevailing views about the Aromanians, both in academic circles and beyond.

It also includes a Vlach Chronology comprising three hundred entries and relevant passages from primary sources, attesting to the pre-Christian presence of the Aromanian Vlachs in the Greek lands from at least the 5th century BC, under the terms “Arman” and “Armania”—terms wholly unrelated to the much-touted Latin origin of the Vlachs and other such “nonsense” and falsehoods imposed as “historical truth.”
