Description

The Amazfit Cheetah 2 Ultra is a premium smartwatch designed with a focus on trail running and long distances.
It features a 1.5" AMOLED display, sapphire glass and a Grade 5 titanium build for durability and low weight.
With maps, advanced GPS, 64GB of storage and up to 30 days of battery life, it is designed for demanding workouts and outdoor activities.

AMOLED display and durable construction

The Cheetah 2 Ultra features a 1.5" circular AMOLED display with a resolution of 480 x 480 pixels and peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits, keeping information easy to read even in bright outdoor conditions. The display is protected by sapphire crystal for enhanced scratch resistance. The bezel, case, back cover and buttons are made of Grade 5 titanium, while the watch weighs just 52 g without the strap.

GPS and Navigation

For mountain activities and demanding routes, the Cheetah 2 Ultra features dual-band GPS and support for six satellite positioning systems. It also has 64GB of internal storage and color topographic maps, allowing you to navigate directly from your wrist. Turn-by-turn directions and navigation features are also supported without requiring a constant connection to your smartphone.

Battery Life and Workouts

The 780mAh battery offers up to 30 days of typical use, while in more demanding conditions, battery life can reach up to 15 days. In Trail Running mode, it offers up to 33 hours, up to 60 hours in high-precision GPS mode, and up to 228 hours in maximum GPS mode. It features more than 180 sports modes, advanced running features, and training plan support through Zepp Coach.

Health and Performance Tracking

The BioTracker PPG 5PD + 2LED sensor monitors your heart rate, while the watch also tracks blood oxygen, stress levels, sleep quality and HRV. With BioCharge, Training Load and PeakBeats, it provides data on training load, performance and recovery. It also features motion and temperature sensors, as well as a barometer, for more comprehensive activity tracking.

  • The Cheetah 2 Ultra is a T-Rex 3 Pro (my fairly detailed review here https://www.skroutz.gr/s/63256107/amazfit-t-rex-3-pro-titanium-48mm-adiavrocho-smartwatch-tactical-black.html#reviews) with two differences: a slightly faster CPU, which made the difference between a “snappy” operating system and a “truly flawless” one, and a case made entirely of titanium.
In appearance, it is much more balanced than the TR3p, somewhere between “rugged” outdoor sports watches and lightweight, slim sports watches designed exclusively for running. Its weight is also very reasonable for its size, thanks to the titanium. A special mention for its color: I can’t stand anything gold-colored, but this particular mostly matte silver shade, with the slightest hint of gold/champagne, is truly distinctive. And a correction to the watch’s specifications: its diameter is not 44 mm but 47.4 mm.
Having lived with Amazfit products for a year now, I can say that the overall experience is really very good. The screen did not disappoint me even under the strongest summer sun, while the light sensor does a very good job in dark environments, lighting the screen just as much as needed.
The wellness measurements are consistent, the GPS is accurate (the differences I’ve seen are in the range of 1–2 meters laterally and 50–70 meters over 30 km), and the heart-rate readings are said to be good; I can’t comment, because I use a heart-rate strap.
The watch is rated as water-resistant to 50 m. In practice, I wore it all summer in the sea and at depths of up to 3 meters, and it had no problems.
Its maps work really well. In the summer, I created 4–5 routes on my computer with OsmAnd for the areas I visited, transferred them easily to the watch, and it guided me perfectly, with no difficulty and without getting lost anywhere.
I haven’t mentioned any of its smartwatch functions, because I don’t think of it as one. There aren’t many apps, although the basics (phone notifications, replying to messages, receiving calls and speaking through the watch) work flawlessly.
Its NFC also works perfectly, as long as you create an account with Curve and link one of your cards there.
Its battery lasts 10 days, with AOD always on and adaptive brightness enabled, which, as I said, works very well.
Overall, this is a slightly faster T-Rex 3 Pro in a very high-quality titanium case. It must be the most expensive sports watch on the market, if we exclude Garmin’s offerings, but in my opinion the price is justified; after all, the similarly constructed Fenix 9 Pro costs twice as much.
Not many people will spend that much when they can get the job done very well for €300. This watch is aimed at people who want an excellent sports watch (not a smartwatch) with premium materials and aren’t willing to pay what the biggest company in the field is asking. I have a feeling it won’t lose out on anything except the name.
