I can't say that I am an expert in rum but I have tried much cheaper ones that I like much more. This particular one leaves me with a bitterness at the end. It is also quite strong. My advice is to try the cheaper ones first before you end up here.

One of the best rums I have tried and among my top 8 drinks!! It is even better than the Single Vintage series but not by so much that it justifies the double price. It has aged 12 years in bourbon barrels and then another 2 years in very old Pedro Ximénez Sherry barrels (these are wine barrels that are sweet and spicy). Taste: Full-bodied, silky, very balanced, with moderate sweetness, with notes of spices-pepper, a touch of butter, soft aftertaste of cognac & bourbon barrel, smooth smoke, a hint of exotic fruits and apricots!! It is worth a try! Connoisseurs will appreciate it better and not just them....
