The Homeland Hirelings Pack brings to your table three new, distinct mercenary groups: the River Roamers, the Sunny Advocates, and the neutral Prosperous Farmers. Each group comes with impressive double-sided tarot cards as well as unique meeples that refresh the visual and strategic landscape of the board. Designed by Cole Wehrle and Patrick Leder and produced by Leder Games, this pack guarantees an authentic and deeply tactical Root experience.

Adaptive Strategy for Any Number of Players

Mercenaries integrate seamlessly into games for 1 to 4 players, offering dynamic solutions depending on the size of the group. In games with fewer participants, they add new elements and presence on the map, increasing the intensity and providing rich tactical options. Similarly, in games with more players, certain mercenary cards reveal new special abilities, allowing you to explore original and exceptionally powerful strategies.

Deep Gameplay & High Replayability

With an average playtime of 75 minutes and suitable for ages 10 and up, this expansion utilizes a rich set of mechanisms such as Action Queue, Area Majority / Influence, Hand Management, Variable Player Powers, and Dice Rolling. The interaction of mercenaries with the core movement mechanisms (Point to Point, Area Movement) creates an exciting dominance race. Note that the base game Root is required to use this expansion.
