The tulip is considered a relatively “easy” plant. Planting is done from early October until late November.

Their hard outer covering is not removed, because it helps protect them against pests. The bulb is placed with the pointed end facing up and the broad side facing down. It is covered with soil according to the planting depth and watered.

Blooming occurs from March through May, depending on the variety. The flowering period lasts about 15-20 days.

• The ideal planting location is in partial shade and protected from strong winds. Areas with intense sunlight should be avoided.
• The tulip is planted at a depth equal to three times its height.

Whether planted in a pot or in the ground, the most suitable location is a north-facing one or another place protected from strong winds and the midday sun. In the garden, sandy soil provides excellent drainage, while pots need outdoor soil enriched with pumice.

Tulip bulbs come from the Netherlands and need cold weather in order to bloom impressively in spring.

Fertilizing once a week helps with better flowering. Continue fertilizing until 4 weeks after the end of flowering.

After flowering, continue watering and fertilizing for 2-6 weeks until the leaves dry out. When the upper part of the plant has dried, remove the bulb carefully and cut its stem 2 cm above the tip of the bulb. Store it in a protected, shady, and cool place.
