Description

Planting period: Iris is planted in autumn and blooms in spring with impressive flowers. It is available in a variety of colors such as blue, white, red, yellow, orange, and black, as well as multicolored bi-colored irises.

Planting method: Iris grows in fertile and slightly acidic soils, in well-drained soil that does not retain too much water. It prefers sunshine for abundant flowering. The planting distance between the bulbs is 20-30 cm. For planting in a pot, the pot should have drainage holes and a layer of gravel or pebbles.

  • Plant close to the soil surface (3-5 cm in cold areas, 5-10 cm in warm areas).
  • Preferably full sun exposure during the day.

Watering method: Iris requires watering 1-2 times per week from germination until flowering. Overwatering should be avoided to prevent root rot.

Fertilizing method: Add fertilizer at planting and again in spring, avoiding nitrogen fertilizers.

Diseases and pests: Iris is hardy, but in excessive humidity it may be affected by fungal diseases. In this case, a copper sulfate solution can be used.

Expert Tips:

  • Proper drainage: Plant in light, well-drained soil.
  • Sunlight: Choose a spot with full sun for vibrant flower colors.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

  • When are the bulbs planted and when do they bloom? Planting is done in autumn and flowering begins in early summer.
