Overall, the algebraic requirement for MYP 4 and MYP 5E is slightly lower, reflecting the lower entry point at the DP level for the HL courses under the new syllabus. However, there are still plenty of challenging problems for stronger students that require critical thinking and analysis skills.
We have greatly improved our offerings for MYP Global Contexts, both in the number of projects and quality, bringing extra historical and cultural interest, more engaging question sets, and better alignment with assessment rubrics. Each chapter now includes an online interactive multiple-choice test, accessible through the digital subscription to the book.
There are also more Discussions and Activities throughout the chapters. These provide students with opportunities for more informal conversations about mathematics and serve as a good source of additional material for students who finish their work early. We are updating our Self-Tutor scripts with a greater emphasis on conceptual understanding.
As with previous editions, we recognize that most schools have national requirements up to grade 10 or equivalent and run MYP programs alongside these. In these new publications, we therefore address the MYP framework, plus anything else commonly covered at that year level, always with the aim of preparing students for the DP courses.
