This edition aims to bring readers into contact with the heroic history of the newspaper, which is intertwined with the history of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and the workers' and people's movement in our country, and to serve as a catalyst for deeper study. It includes certain texts and articles (many of which were published in "Rizospastis") about the importance and irreplaceable role of the party press, lively testimonies about the publication and distribution of the newspaper, mainly during periods of illegality, poems written about the newspaper, and more. Additionally, some of the heroic, historic figures of "Rizospastis" are highlighted, without exhaustively listing all the leaders and editors who dedicated their lives to the newspaper, remaining exemplary models of dedication and communist journalism to this day. The edition also contains a narrative about the period from 1974 to 2024, the history of persecutions that continued against "Rizospastis" even after 1974, as well as a historical overview of the changes made to the format, writing, and printing methods of the newspaper, which was a pioneer in integrating technology into journalism. As stated in the introductory note of the edition by the Editorial Committee of "Rizospastis": "The entire history of the Party and the newspaper reveals the great effort to publish 'Rizospastis,' whether the Party was legal or illegal, whether it operated peacefully or with a gun in hand. Whether in the city or in the mountains. Whether printed openly or secretly, in underground and hidden printing houses. Whether distributed through mass campaigns in workplaces and neighborhoods, or secretly hand-to-hand." "(…) The irreplaceable role of our newspaper is confirmed historically, in every period, whether the circulation of 'Rizospastis' was legal or illegal. It is confirmed today as well, as the escalation of deadlocks due to anti-people policies and the widespread military pre-preparation by opposing imperialist camps raise the bar for our Party in ideological and political confrontation." This showcases convincingly and substantiates the necessity of the KKE's exit proposal, the relevance of the ongoing struggle for socialism – communism, as the only solution for the people's interests and needs. Our Party and the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE) are called to act in difficult and demanding conditions to organize the struggle, mobilize active workers and people's forces, and bring them into alliance with the KKE. "(…) It is impossible for a Party member to be a pioneer and leader in their field, for leading action within the movement, or for the mobilization of workers if the daily organized procurement, study, distribution, and utilization of 'Rizospastis' are not secured. This weapon of the 'front line' we have in the daily confrontation with bourgeois ideology and politics, for the organization of workers and the people!" It is a matter of collective and individual responsibility to respond to this duty: to match the newspaper's circulation with the current demands of class and revolutionary struggle!
