Description

Description

This collective volume is a critical reworking of the round table on the theme “Great anniversaries, collective memory and national identity: 1821 through the philosophical perspective of today,” which was organized by the Department of Philosophy of the University of Ioannina on the occasion of the commemorative celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution by the School of Philosophy in July 2021.

The common denominator of the six texts gathered in this volume is the question “Why does Greece exist?” and the seemingly simple answer to it: “In order for justice to be realized in a place and for the people who live and will live in it, permanently or temporarily, to be able to live as fellow human beings.” The texts make it clear why such a simple goal is so difficult to become a lasting reality.

The contributors to the volume: Stefanos Dimitriou, Konstantinos Herodotou, Golfw Maggini, Angelos Mouzakitis, Giannis Prelorentzos, Konstantinos Rantis, Giorgos Sangriotis, Nikos Psarros.
