The first quantum revolution, which began in the early 20th century primarily thanks to Albert Einstein, revolutionized our understanding of the world, introducing astonishing concepts such as wave-particle duality, and leading to significant inventions: the transistor, the laser, and integrated computer circuits.
Less well known, the second quantum revolution started in 1935 with a discussion between Einstein and Niels Bohr, and became feasible from the late 1960s through experiments with individual particles.
