In my first encounter with Locke's philosophy, this book offers an easy-to-understand interpretation of the Enlightenment thinker’s positions, focusing on the justification of civil disobedience as a means of restoring liberal balance. Although dense and at times pompous, the book, in a formalistic manner, familiarizes the reader with basic concepts of political philosophy such as natural law and property. In the book’s epilogue, the concept of civil disobedience is linked to language, while its ontological aspect is also explored rather briefly.
