ESAB OK Tigrod 308L rods offer excellent corrosion resistance, making them ideal for demanding applications. The low carbon content reduces the risk of intergranular corrosion, ensuring reliable welding in environments with high humidity and chemical exposure.
ESAB OK Tigrod 308L rods are mainly used for:
- Chemical and food industry applications.
- Welding of pipes, tubing, and boilers.
- Welding of 18% Cr - 8% Ni stainless steels with low carbon content.
- Welding of Nb-stabilized steels of the same category, provided the operating temperature does not exceed 350°C.
- Welding of chrome steels, excluding environments with high sulfur content.
Mechanical properties of welded metal:
- Yield strength: 480 MPa (70 ksi).
- Tensile strength: 610 MPa (88.5 ksi).
- Elongation: 36%.
Typical impact toughness properties (Charpy V-Notch):
- At 20°C (68°F), impact toughness is 170 J (125 ft-lb).
- At -80°C (-112°F), impact toughness is 135 J (99.5 ft-lb).
- At -196°C (-321°F), impact toughness is 80 J (59 ft-lb).
Chemical composition of welded metal:
- Main elements: 19% Cr – 9% Ni – Low C (austenitic type with ~8% ferrite).
- Alloy elements: Mn 1.8%, Si 0.4%, Mo 0.1%, Cu 0.1%, N 0.07%.
