Numerous studies have been conducted regarding the parental role, as well as on planning for the transition to adulthood at both international and local levels. Conversely, qualitative research using a liberating approach involving parent populations and, even more so, individuals with disabilities themselves, is much scarcer.

This work, through an interpretive liberating approach, aims to explore the voices of mothers of children with disabilities, their perceptions, expectations, obstacles, and suggestions regarding their children's transition to adulthood, the importance and necessity of creative and employment activities, autonomous and supported living, their expectations regarding supportive auxiliary staff, Supported Living Homes, and the institution of Personal Assistants.
