    It is not laminated particle board, it has natural wood veneer everywhere and is completely unpainted. For me, it definitely needs a coat of wood varnish. I also changed its color! No assembly is needed except for the legs, which screw into their bases and are absolutely stable. It is overall well-made and definitely a very good choice
