The trick is to insulate the window from which you run the hose very well so that the heat doesn't come in. For example, I also put up a reflective thermal shield so that no sunlight gets through at all, and I made a hole in it for the hose to come out. Also, the hose reaches very high temperatures, so you need to insulate it with something because otherwise the heat it gives off will stay inside the house. If you take the time to deal with all that and do a good installation, it will perform effectively even in heatwaves, but if you set it up as is, don't expect much.

Of course, it doesn't have the same performance as a regular air conditioner with the same BTU, but with the logic that you get it because for some reason you can't install a regular air conditioner, it does a good job and also has the advantage that you can use it for dehumidification in the winter. The trick is to insulate the window from which you run the hose very well so that the heat doesn't come in. For example, I also put up a reflective thermal shield so that no sunlight gets through at all, and I made a hole in it for the hose to come out. Also, the hose reaches very high temperatures, so you need to insulate it with something because otherwise the heat it gives off will stay inside the house. If you take the time to deal with all that and do a good installation, it will perform effectively even in heatwaves, but if you set it up as is, don't expect much.
