The Axagon EEM2-20GD enclosure functions as an external storage device and cloning station for two M.2 NVMe drives, which can be used simultaneously. Cloning is performed without connecting to a computer: the four LEDs indicate its progress, and the destination drive must have a capacity equal to or greater than that of the source drive. The USB-C connection supports speeds of up to 20 Gbit/s, with actual transfer rates of up to approximately 2,000 MB/s, depending on the USB controller of the connected device.

The two drives appear as separate volumes on the computer and can be used independently or simultaneously. The enclosure supports UASP, TRIM and S.M.A.R.T. information reading, as well as software RAID configuration on Windows and macOS. The aluminium body, thermal pads and built-in fan help dissipate heat, while the mechanical locking mechanism secures the internal drive.
