The exploration of the folk culture of Aperathos, as part of the broader cultural system of Naxos, during the transitional period marked between the early 20th century and the post-war decades, revealed a comprehensive picture of the cultural traditions of a community characterized by geographical peculiarities.

The mountainous terrain, the talc mines, and the small arable lands were the parameters that defined, on one hand, the productive activities of the residents (cattle farming, olive cultivation, viticulture, initiation into primary industrial work - talc mining) and, on the other hand, played an important role in shaping the cultural tradition of Aperathos.

The study was based on the memories of the residents as well as on various documents and archives that shed light on aspects of the local community and the broader cultural tradition. Social memories that not only recount and describe past events but also comment in every way on the present and our current living conditions.

More importantly, they reconstruct, even fragmentarily, the culture of a place in its various expressions. A culture that is decades old and, despite the changes and transformations that have taken place, the residents of the local community still carry it within them, alive.
