The Hyllan pregnancy test is a pen-style test that detects the hCG hormone in urine. It can be used directly in the urine stream, without collecting a sample in a container, or by immersing the absorbent tip in a clean container of urine for at least 15 seconds. It detects hCG levels from 20 mIU/ml and can be used from the first day of a missed period.

Before use, allow the test to reach room temperature (10–30 °C). After applying the sample, place it on a flat surface with the result window facing up and read the result after 5 minutes, but no later than 10 minutes. For single use only; do not wet the result window, and do not use after the expiry date or if the packaging is damaged. A positive result should be confirmed by a doctor. False-positive or false-negative results may occur depending on the timing of the test, hCG concentration, or certain medical conditions.
