Description

Description

This sequence was approved by the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate during its session on May 5, 2014.

The present sequence of Saint Elder Porphyrios of Kafsokalivia was composed by the theologian and philologist Evangelos Karadimos shortly after the saint's repose on December 2, 1991, and was published in 1998.

In this second edition, an appendix was added, which includes the musical notation and character transcription of its parts in Byzantine music, which were deemed useful to be emphasized musically. The musical notation was done by the Reverend Presbyter Christos D. Kyriakopoulos, theologian, musicologist, and General Archpriest Commissioner of the Holy Metropolis of Kifissia, Amaroussion, and Oropos.

This sequence, although written in the traditional language of ecclesiastical hymnography, is easily understandable because its author has chosen a simple syntax and easily comprehensible vocabulary.
