The ZWO off-axis guider is used for automatic telescope guiding during astrophotography, without requiring a separate guide scope. A guide camera tracks stars near the imaging camera’s sensor, so guiding takes place in the area of the sky around the desired object. This avoids errors caused by differential flexure and poor guide scope alignment.
The larger prisms and wider clear aperture provide a larger guiding field of view, while the design is intended for imaging at longer focal lengths. The M48 tilt plate helps align the focal plane precisely with the sensor. For guiding, it is compatible only with ASI Mini cameras, such as the ASI174MM Mini, ASI290MM Mini, and ASI120MM Mini.
