Description

RAPHAELE, from inside: Move forward!... Good, just like that: you move forward and I’ll shine the light from behind you. That’s how we did it when we brought in the other things. I always have to stand behind... Keep this well in mind...

(A porter enters carrying two chairs, a suitcase, and many men's hats, one inside the other, just managing to balance them on his head. Raphaele, who is following him, shouts.) Wait, stop! The light hasn’t come yet, everything is in the middle and we risk breaking our faces.

One moment to open the dark balcony... (He moves uncertainly and turns towards one balcony. After a few steps, he suddenly stops and turns towards the porter.) But you don’t move!... (The tone of his voice has changed and sounds strange.) You were moving forward... But what’s happening, are you scared? Come in, keep going...

(The porter takes a few steps forward.) Good. And don’t move! (He finally approaches the balcony on the right and opens the door. The scene is lit up fully.) Thank God, light! (He also opens the door to the other balcony.) Now we are better off.

(The porter leaves the things in a corner of the stage and is about to leave. Almost angrily and blocking his way.) - So you really want to leave? PORTER: I’m going to bring the other things. RAPHAELE: And I’m left alone. Nice, isn’t it? Are you in a hurry? Your companion will be here soon. Once he arrives, you can leave.

PORTER: And the cupboard? How can I carry the cupboard by myself? It weighs two quintals!
