A bank teller sees his life overturned when a mysterious woman makes him realize the dead end of his daily routine. Driven by a sudden impulse, he steals a huge sum of money and abandons his job and family, determined to finally "live."
He embarks on a frantic journey seeking, through money, love, and religion, some trace of truth or redemption. However, the day he "stole" turns into a dark night of inner stripping, as he realizes that nothing can save him from his own emptiness.
This is an adaptation by Thomas Moschopoulos, based on the masterpiece of expressionist theater Von morgens bis mitternachts by Georg Kaiser. A landmark work of the 20th century, which through intense symbolism and dark humor comments on the existential anguish of man in a world staggering between wars, economic and ideological crises.
Through sarcasm, imagination, and the multiple female figures that challenge him, the anxiety for meaning and survival is revealed.
