The explanation for this is that when a child is about to breastfeed, the tongue wraps around the nipple and creates a vacuum, which causes the flow of milk. When the child sucks on a round pacifier, it rolls its tongue around it in the same way it sucks. The round shape is recommended by pediatric chiropractors and obstetricians in Denmark.
