The Bohrcraft drill is a short, cylindrical Type N metal drill bit conforming to DIN 338, with a 118° point angle. It is made of HSS-G, ground and suitable for right-hand cutting, with a helix angle of 20–30° and a diameter tolerance of h8. It is used for drilling unalloyed and low-alloy steels with Rm ≤ 800 N/mm², cast iron, non-ferrous materials such as aluminium, copper and bronze alloys, plastics, and various sintered materials, except for components made of steel powders or metal carbides.
From a diameter of 2 mm upwards, additional grinding of the bearing surface and thinning of the web, in accordance with DIN 1412 C, make cutting easier, reduce cutting force and speed up drilling. Recommended for drills and stationary equipment, while use in portable electric or pneumatic drills is intended for occasional use.
