The Home Assistant Connect ZBT-2 is an easy solution for building a Zigbee or Thread network with improved performance and stability. The precisely tuned, high-performance antenna combined with the latest generation MG24 radio chip provides faster response and stable connection with connected devices. It is built on the open, second-generation Connect platform, optimized and aesthetically suitable for the home environment.

Installation and migration of the ZBT-2 is simple: the integrated Home Assistant wizard guides you through the initial steps, allowing the creation of a new Zigbee or Thread network in minutes or migration of an existing network.

  • Faster response: up to four times faster compared to the first generation, with continuous improvement in device responsiveness.

    It is the best for its price as a Thread Border Router. The other cheaper option is Aqara's M100, which also has Thread and Zigbee support (and I think it can run both at the same time), but they say there are connection issues and you have to deal with the Aqara app all the time, whereas with the ZBT-2 everything is through Home Assistant. The one downside is that you can't use Zigbee and Thread at the same time, so if you need both you'll have to get another Zigbee hub as well (because the ZBT-2 is worth it as a Thread Border Router), but for another €20 you can get one from Sonoff, and in total for €70 you have Zigbee and Thread which you can manage locally, without third-party apps, only through Home Assistant, and you're not locked into any ecosystem. If you think that a few years ago €50-70 would buy you a decent Zigbee hub, now things are quite a bit better and cheaper.
