Mechanical Pencil Lead Refills
The Pilot S20 is a mechanical pencil with a fixed tube for the lead. It features a short aluminum clip engraved with the word Pilot, as well as a central aluminum band with the markings S20 and Japan in small black letters. The clip can be removed if you prefer to use the pencil without it.
The advance mechanism works by pressing the back of the pencil to push out new lead. The top of the mechanism is a plastic disc that matches the wood and bears the marking 0.5 or 0.3 mm, depending on the model.
A rotating ring band in the center of the mechanism allows changing the lead hardness indication: F, H, HB, or B.
Gently pulling the mechanism reveals a small eraser, which can be removed to access the chamber for lead refilling.
